Great quote from Steenberg Vineyards Elunda Basson: it's the toughest wine category to pull off, to make an exquisite prestige cuvée bubbly. Cap Classique Tasting Lady R, Villiera Wines Monro Graham Beck Bubbly Cuvée Clive, can see why. Has to be the best & intricate styling is de rigeur.

Not your average Sunday family lunch. Hats off to the Ferreira family for all they've achieved over the quarter century Tokara Wine & Olive Farm - wine, olives, art, people, architecture & viticulture/farming.

Dream team? Gee-Em Karl Lambour with winemaker Stuart Botha, singing off the Tokara Wine & Olive Farm hymn sheet. Director's Reserve white 2021 followed a superb 2013 Cap Classique, on Cap Classique Day too!

Viticulturist Aidan Morton doing the Tokara Wine & Olive Farm 'haal uit en wys' - the 2005 Director's Reserve red which he had to present to Jancis Robinson as Tokara's maiden release. Reminiscing about having planted the farm 30 years ago - and the evolution of the brand.

You have one chance to make a great first impression, was Gyles Webb's advice to Tokara Wine & Olive Farm as their consultant. So they held back until 2005 - and the Director's Reserve red has been decanted from 12-litre, just 5 bottled.

Cab, Merlot & Petit Verdot made up the 2005 Director's Reserve red. And I can attest that it has aged superbly! 19 years on it has a subtle earthiness, rich spiciness, tea leaf, licorice - yum! Tokara Wine & Olive Farm #Tokara25

We’re planning a flyover the Cape Town Stadium this weekend too. We’ll make sure it doesn’t interfere with the Haka! A very Cape Town welcome! #springboks #ForeverGreenForeverGold #RSAvNZL

Emotional intelligence isn't only about reading others' feelings. It’s also about revealing some of yours. People with expressive faces are better liked—and better negotiators if they’re friendly. Showing emotion is not a sign of weakness. It's a tool for communication and fuel

First vintage was made in 1922 - Alto Wine Estate has become a South African staple over the past century. Palatable combo of cab, shiraz and cinsaut. Big developments afoot, new plantings, cellar & tasting room redevelopment.

50 years on from a fabled vintage & this wine is holding its own, still unfurling after 30 mins. Resinous balsamic & pine needle notes, maceration berry fruits on nose & palate. Alto Wine Estate 1991 is the wine of the flight, by popular consensus.

And now to Cabernet - with Alto Wine Estate reaching deep into its wine library for precious stocks of the first ever solo Cab bottling from 1965. The estate is adamant that #Stellenbosch and specifically #Helderberg are crucial for them.

Interesting discussion about 1965 vs 1976 Alto Wine Estate Cab. Former is remarkably youthful, fruity, bold & rich but latter is easy to overlook in its subtlety. Very Japanese aesthetic in its shy reticence & fey purity. Simply beautiful!

Two hours from our beloved Cape Town is the country's longest wine route: the Robertson Wine Valley. Known as "The Valley of Wine and Roses," this idyllic region invites you to explore its serene landscapes.
