Collectively we are creating a new normal in queer culture where fossil fuel companies are not welcome, now we need to have a conversation about the banks making that fossil fuel extraction possible.

With the climate crisis affecting LGBTQIA+ communities in the Global South first and worst, it's really positive to see DIVA reconsider its involvement with climate wreckers like BP.

More recently BP has attracted criticism after being granted fossil fuel exploration licences in Palestinian territorial waters.

BP's long been a catalyst for climate justice concerns both outside & within the LGBTQIA+ community due to its history of obstructing climate policy, alleged human rights abuses, & its responsibility for the climate crisis as one of the largest fossil fuel companies in the world.

BP had been on the DIVA Awards shortlist for the ‘myGwork LGBTQIA Network of the Year’ category for their staff pride network ‘BP Pride’, but were removed from the nominee list after intervention from climate organisers within the queer community 💖🖤
