Great to see CarbonMapper’s Tanager-1 join the fleet of methane-detecting satellites. Its capabilities will be an important complement to MethaneSAT and others in orbit to create the comprehensive inventory needed to drastically reduce methane emissions in the next 6 years.

Climate risks are real for all companies. Businesses can act now to safeguard supply chains against physical risk and turn these challenges into opportunities. As regulations grow on climate-related impacts, staying ahead is not just wise—it's essential. edf.org/Z6L6

Great piece on the Inflation Reduction Act's success. The TL;DR is the law has done its job mobilizing private-sector dollars to fight climate change and creating U.S. manufacturing jobs.

Reducing #methane is the fastest way to slow the 🌎 warming rate. Tanager 1 complements emissions-detecting 🛰️ in orbit. It can zoom in on super-emitting sources from fossil fuel, waste & agriculture sectors to help address emissions. @nasajpl Planet ➡️ prn.to/4dKZbVc

If done right, a well should safely sequester CO2 for 10,000+ years. And making sure operators are held accountable if something goes wrong is a good way to make sure things get done right. So, it’s counterproductive to broadly exempt operators from long-term liability.

We’ll need significant CO2 storage to meet climate targets. Done right wells can sequester CO2 permanently but getting it right’s not a given. Holding operators accountable for the quality of their work is essential. We shouldn’t give that away too easily. blogs.edf.org/energyexchange…

Encouraging to see progress speeding up. 80% of new energy capacity added to the U.S. grid the first half of this year came from solar and batteries. And as the price of solar/other renewables continues to come down this momentum will grow even faster. x.com/IEA/status/183…
