We’re working on an exciting project Clovenfords Primary School to create a wildlife friendly area in the school grounds. Over the next few weeks we’ll be building a bug hotel, installing nest boxes, improving the pond & adding lots of habitat piles. Watch this space! SBCOutdoorEducation

It’s #RedSquirrelAppreciationDay apparently so let’s celebrate with a local red squirrel… Go Wild Scotland has been monitoring populations of these iconic creatures throughout the borders region. Stunning animals and always fun to watch.

Excellent work this afternoon Clovenfords Primary School. The classes worked brilliantly as a team to create a massive bug hotel - despite the awful weather. We even found our first resident… SBCOutdoorEducation #natureeducation BuglifeScotland

A great morning’s work from our DofE students, building 3 hibernaculums next to our top ponds. These will provided refuge for small animals such as frogs, toads, mice and voles. Selkirk High School Froglife Go Wild Scotland #volunteering #dukeofedinburghawards

Another great outdoor learning session Clovenfords Primary School this afternoon. Nestboxes installed, hedgehog habitat piles started and one of our pupils found a lovely, wiggly worm! #outdoorlearning #natureeducation

Getting ready for #nationalnestboxweek and building nestboxes with children from Hawick primary schools today. They all did brilliantly and we’ll be taking them down to the local woodland at Hornshole to install them after the February holiday. BirdingBorders RSPB Scotland

Found some owl pellets on a nature walk with a class. The teacher took them back to dissect and found plenty of bones! I’m intrigued by the big one in the middle. Any ideas what it might be from? (I’ve asked for more photos with a ruler for scale). Graeme Wilson 🐀🐾🦇🐝🕷️🐌🐞 Ric Morris
