FIRE’s 2025 Campus Free Speech Rankings are out. Harvard is once again the worst school on the list. Columbia and New York University join it in the “abysmal” category. Penn and Barnard are among the four “very poor” schools.

The real takeaway is that the U.S.’s natural antibodies to foreign influence are pretty damn strong. The Russians used have to have NYT and New Republic journos in their pocket, and now their best draw is “former RT anchor”? Pathetic.

Prospective students and parents should read these rankings and make college decisions accordingly. Colleges are not an undifferentiated blob. There are many schools (including elite schools) that respect free speech and maintain institutional neutrality. Choose those schools.
