It feels like 'Groundhog Day' across SE TX...Rain will continue today with an avg of 1-3' expected. Smaller areas of 4-8' totals are possible. Once the rain ends, be mindful that rivers will continue to be swollen for days (possibly weeks). Stay safe, & turn around, don't drown!

High Water Rescue:

About noon today, Officer H. Scott with HPD's Marine rescued a man and three dogs who were trapped in 8 to 10 feet of water.

This happened in a trailer park near where the San Jacinto River enters Lake Houston.

We're glad everyone was okay.

Rising water levels have created an unsafe environment for Lake Houston. It is not safe to swim, kayak, boat, or do any other water activities on the lake. For your safety stay out of the lake until it is reopened.

Barricades are in place for your safety. Flood waters contain many things that are harmful to your health. Protect yourself and others by leaving them in place.

Those in the affected San Jacinto River areas should evacuate while they can. If you don't evacuate now, you are endangering yourself and our first responders.

'There is no sense in putting them or yourself in any danger.'
