What is your favorite Antarctic species and why? Which aspect of the Antarctic food web do you find particularly fascinating? Five participants of our children’s workshop answered these questions on stage at ASOC’s event at the #ATCM46 this week. 🇦🇶

On May 22, a terracotta mural depicting eight iconic Antarctic species created by local children and youth has been unveiled to delegates attending the #ATCM46 Antarctic Treaty meetings.

Following a brief presentation, children handed over messages and a small gift to delegates.

We had the pleasure of opening with a presentation from Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) on how disappearing Antarctic sea ice impacts the monsoon, particularly in India.

From the atmosphere to oceans, forests and frozen landscapes, the world is interconnected.

These findings were published in PNASNews on Monday.

Seawater pushes beneath the vulnerable #Thwaites Glacier as the tide move up and down, creating a 4-mile zone where warm water repeatedly flows underneath the ice and accelerates melting.

This glacier is 'holding on today by its fingernails,' said Dr. Robert Larter British Antarctic Survey 🐧.
