A great advocate for us colorectal cancer patients in Ireland - a huge loss for our growing community. Shocked to read that 4 times more women die of bowel than cervical cancer in Ireland. HSE Ireland need better screening & awareness. Waited a year for colonoscopy, diagnosed stage3

At each appointment, it amazes me to see my medical records still being literally wheeled out.
It's like a scene from the dark ages as paper still being used by HSE Ireland. No excuse in this day & age. Should've been digitised many year's ago.

is the only way we hold records? My GP relies on what I report (thankful that I'm informed but not everyone is) last week I had my 3 month check up with my onc. I then walked a few metres to the day ward. They couldn't proceed without my paper file which took time to send over!

Clinical trials carried out in the three EU countries of similar sizes across 10 years, 460 were done in Ireland, compared to 661 in Finland and 1,290 in Denmark.

There are breakthroughs in cancer over the last ten years that have become standard of care in other EU countries, but unfortunately, in Ireland policy neglect means patients can not access them.
