Good morning and a very warm welcome to the third Frankfurt Irish Festival! First up on the agenda, we have some traditional Irish music on stage and an Irish set dance demonstration in the sports hall.

Acting Consul General Jacques has declared the festival officially open!

Thank you to State Secretary for European Affairs, Ms. Karin Müller, for kindly welcoming our guests on behalf of the Hessian government.

Thank you also to Deputy Mayor of Frankfurt, Ms. Eileen O’Sullivan, for speaking during the opening ceremony not only as a representative of the city government but also as a member of the Irish community in the Frankfurt-Rhein-Main region.

Our opening ceremony concludes with the Secretary of Irish Business Network Germany, Ms. Roisin Russ, speaking on behalf of the festival planning committee, without whom today wouldn’t have been possible!

There’s still time for you to join in the festivities here in Nied. Up next we have a pop-up Irish language session or Preab Gaeltacht, demonstrations of the Irish sports of hurling and Gaelic football, as well as much more to follow throughout the course of the day!

A traditional Irish group dance or ceilí is a fitting way to wrap up a great third Frankfurt Irish Festival! Thank you for attending with such enthusiasm and in such high numbers. Ireland feels even closer to Germany today!
