It seems like attendance is a major focus for schools this year. Of the £2.9bn allocated to pupil premium my impression is that schools will invest more in getting children to show up.

Headlines from the update is that fines should be considered for 10 absent sessions (half days) in any 10 week period. An absent session includes arriving late and the fines have increased from £60 to £80, which doubles if not paid in 21 days. Schools are not allowed a blanket

Thought this was clickbait - then we had the first day of school for Year 7's. There were several detentions, a student sent to isolation and then a full blown fist fight...should be a fun year. #edutwitter theguardian.com/education/arti…

Thoroughly enjoyed your talk yesterday Christine Counsell. Great argument around narratives leading to heightened attention improving encoding in LTM. If we put aside the literacy benefits of text, couldn't this principle work as well or even better if the narrative is in a video?

From testing it out, I think this app has got lots of potential. The interactive element to producing the resources helps keep the teacher in the driving seat which is a big concern in the industry. Definitely some teething problems around formatting and design but its only in

Impressive features on the new iPhone. Will GenZ use guided tours when their phones can advise where to go, tells them what they're looking at and answer any question with more accuracy than a professional tour guide?
