Why do so many of those who attack anyone standing up for native ecosystems also just happen to be racist xenophobes when it comes to human affairs?

Because for them, it's all about the 'rightful' dominance of ONE species: humans, and in particular the white male variety.

Goats don't just destroy native forest ecosystems by eating every tree seedling and most ground flora.

As this video shows, they strip the bark from mature trees too, killing the tree. My place was full of dead bark-stripped trees when I arrived, due to goats.

John Glynn Vin Diesel Eoghan Daltun 🌍 The length of time that a destructive, invasive species has been wrecking an ecosystem does nothing to mitigate that destruction.

Quite the reverse.

Ireland is very biodepleted. Removing feral goats from the wild is needed to help nature to restore itself.

It may come as a shock to some, but people, as in Homo sapiens, are actually the *same species*, wherever they happen to be from.

(Yes, even Dubliners.)

This sort of comment displays total ignorance of what a natural ecosystem is, or how it works.

I have zero problem with people wanting to preserve a so-called 'old Irish goat' breed.

But as fenced-in *livestock*, NOT out in the wild, helping kill what little of our native ecosystems still survive.

Excellent piece by John Gibbons. My jaw dropped to learn that over 60% of new car sales in Ireland are SUVs.

That is indicative of a society in *total*, shameful denial of the collapsing climate.

As John rightly says, these monster vehicles should be taxed out of existence.

She lost her foot in a snare - imagine the pain - but most of the thousands of snares left on the forest floor are not intended for gorillas, but for small animals for food.

All part of man’s mindless, indiscriminate destruction of wildlife.

Everyone who lives in an area prone to flooding: take note.

If you want to avoid ever more regular disasters to your home, business, and life, the very best thing is lots of natural ecosystems upstream to soak up water and slow the flow.

There is a billionaire class that owns the vast majority of wealth in the world, and they are adept at controlling the discussions that are important - and shape those discussions as much as they can through their wealth.

Actually, thinking on it, I'm not sure I do agree.

As despicable as the treatment of the Gaza genocide by Western media is, its dumbing down of climate and ecological breakdown is far, far worse, because it will impact everyone on the planet, as well as all other life, FOREVER.

'Look, the Western media's coverage of what the International Court of Justice has called a 'plausible genocide' unfolding in front of our eyes, in my view is perhaps the greatest, most consequential, most shameful media failure of our lifetimes.'

Totally agree.

This is on par with the most disturbing videos out of Gaza even though it doesn’t contain any footage of atrocities, only interviews with experts familiar with what happens to Palestinian children in Israel’s prisons.
