Gladly eating the shit UFC feeds you doesn't make you a "better fan". Nothing wrong with demanding more from them. The weekly cards are rough watches. I mean, if you are in the media it could literally get you banned from covering the sport. But that's just a chance you take

If you've never sat on AIM or IRC in the middle of the night waiting for someone in Japan to send you the results of a PRIDE event, I don't really give a fuck about your opinion on what "the greatest fights of all-time" were.

"You're an MMA casual." Okay dude. But one of us sent Monte Cox $39.95 for a VHS tape of Extreme Challenge 21 so they could have a complete collection of Matt Hughes fights. We are not the same.

if you want to gamble on sports you should have to go to a little room across town and talk to a stinky little man. there should be an aura of griminess about it. you should not be able to do gambling on your phone

Modern MMA fans really don't have a good feel for the history of this sport and how close it came to disappearing. Everything was fan driven—the internet, the magazines, VHS tapes. There was a small group of diehards who really worked hard to evangelize for this thing.

UFC has never regularly reported PPV numbers. Eventual fighter lawsuits revealed media reports wildly wrong. Now that they're exclusive to ESPN, no one has any idea what kind of business they do. They limit their reporting to investors to a broad "media rights" category.

Judgement free zone: The comments here are uniformly positive, which really tells you a lot about what the UFC fanbase expects from its media. All the hand-wringing about the sanctity of MMA "journalism" is hilarious because the audience just wants Dana to have a friend.

AEW will clear $200 million a year when all the deals are signed. Hopefully the weirdos pretending the company is about to go out of business every week find something else to do. Launching a new brand where there's an established power is a really fantastic achievement.
