It’s not an either or.
We need:
1) Tools & models (& sufficient head room) to set establishments & roster based on ‘typical’ patient mix & flow.
2) Prof judgement to review what’s needed on shift
3) Redlines to ensure RN staffing NEVER falls to high risk levels.

Steve Taylor 4. We also have the fewest beds per 1000 people in the OECD and have lost around half our beds in past 30 years and have failed to invest capital expenditure in buidings and facilities (parallels with GP workforce crisis) - again out of our control as clinicians/ops managers
