Providing care for children that have resettled in the US and 2. The impact of One Health on parasitic infections. It was an honor to be a part of this awesome scientific program.
My lab received the Nancy Chang, PhD research excellence award in 2023. The grant allowed Dr Yifan Wu to evaluate the role of platelet derived Dkk-1 in SARS-CoV2 immune deregulation. Today he had the opportunity to present his findings to Dr Chang! What an honor! From the Labs at Baylor College of Medicine

More time in the lab for the BCM_TropMed DTM learners. Plating their samples + performing gram stains + benchtop biochemical tests to identify 10 unknown bacteria of global significance. Goal: to develop basic clinical lab skills that are globally transferable (+some fun)
Today starts the BCM_TropMed 1-week, hands-on laboratory course run by DrKathrynJonesDVMPhD , Theresa Sepulveda and Dr Cameron Brown! Our students are given clinical samples (fixed) and learn to diagnose different pathogens using limited resources. ASTMH ASTMH Clinical Group
