The people making the decisions “are the product of a….dismantled music education”

Sopranos, who often outnumber other voice-types sometimes by 10/1, cannot sing in choirs where children sing the top line. That rules out the majority of church choirs, both pro & amateur. The brilliant inclusion of girl choristers can’t be at the expense of older girls & women.

It’s a sad day. I am in admiration for what you and Graham have achieved. My predecessor Christopher Robinson and I are of the view this was an excellent venture. The motto in our country seems to be ‘the problem of success is success’. Excellence is now deemed inappropriate. 🤨

What?! WHY??? This is a terrible decision by St John's College, Cambridge . Is this because the chapel choir is now admitting girl choristers and female altos? The two choirs are completely different things, serving different people. Time to row this decision back, and quick!
