this seems like a very good thing. The tight integration w biketown will help system work better. I know some folks hate these scooters, but i think they're pretty useful and seem like a great option for lots of folks.

If my calculations are correct, Oregon has had 23% FEWER traffic deaths statewide in the first 7 months of the year: 2023 YTD - 347 fatalities 2024 YTD - 268 fatalities

These mark a lot of boxes for 💯 bike parking: covered, ample quantity, right up front (for security), staple (best design). Spacing looks a bit crowded for larger cargo bikes. Always good idea to have an oversized bike section w larger spacing. Overall this looks fantastic.

In hindsight, PBOT would rather save up $$ to fix these locations for good w permanent infra that doesn't require maintenance.

This is a verrry prevalent idea among some of Oregons most powerful elected officials and policymakers.

Big news for bicycle riders who are often forced into risky traffic situations and/or feel unsafe due to some of these RVs.

What's happening here seems to be a normalization of very dangerous and illegal behavior that likely won't get better as long as local officials remain silent and path infrastructure makes it possible.

I am finally seriously considering leaving this platform and moving to Threads. Such a bummer that Musk is screwing up what was/could have been an amazing tool. So if this account and my BikePortland account go quiet you'll know why.
