Fossil fuels, like nuclear weapons, are a major global threat. Watch this video to hear more about a proposed global framework to phase out coal, oil and gas fairly and forever. Endorse the concept as an organisation or individual at fossilfueltreaty.org #ClimateWeekNYC

Among the many things I admired about J.G.A. Pocock was his eventual turn from the history of British and European political discourse to critical analysis of capitalism, imperialism, and Indigenous sovereignty. A giant in his intellectual scope and generosity.

What epoch is it? The ICS geologists say we're still in the Holocene. To understand all this, we’re revisiting Joyce Chaplin's recent review essay that situates the #Anthropocene concept in the context of the history of ideas. muse.jhu.edu/pub/56/article…

Briefly breaking my X-fast because…the WMQ doesn’t let authors thank the editors in their articles but they can’t stop me here! Huge thanks to Julia Gaffield, Josh Piker, Meg Musselwhite, who made it possible for me to appear alongside these amazing scholars in this spring issue

Thank you OIEAHC! My article looks at how climate change, consumerism, industrialization, racism, and resource depletion have been packed together for centuries—and how the desire for quick technical fixes to this nest of problems is as old as the United States itself

It’s day 3 of #SummerofHeat and scientists are speaking out! Scientists have been sounding the alarm on the climate crisis for decades. But banks like Citi continue ignoring our warnings and keep on funding fossil fuels. The time to act is now! ❌

U.S. history is (among other things) a series of zany schemes and I just reviewed a book about one of the zaniest: the grid survey plan, which mapped out an incredible 1.4 billion acres in North America
