For what it’s worth, I didn’t speak about “violence” in schools tonight, but I did speak about how our government is failing vulnerable, overwhelmed students with complex needs and how kids are melting down with no access to proactive, specialized supports. There’s a difference.

💯 There are so many women out there especially who have been misdiagnosed with all sorts of mental health labels when they are actually undiagnosed neurodivergent. Knowing you are ND and what you need as a result is the beginning of a whole different and much better life!

A #BackToSchool benediction for everyone in #OntEd who keeps working , fighting, and striving to make school the best place it can be for all of the students in our care. Have a wonderful first day back.

The emotional toll that the severe and worsening lack of student support takes on educators is a leading contributor to staff shortages that just makes the situation that much worse. #onted #edchat

I was in grade 9 when Columbine happened, and there was a rumor that a threat was made at our HS the next day, and police were on site. I can't stress the importance of emergency preparedness training enough for teachers, school admins, and especially students.

Tomorrow (Sept 9) at 1 pm, I'll be questioning the new Education Minister on education funding and her plans to address the many challenges our kids are facing. You can watch the hearing live at this link: ola.org/en/legislative…

We need sufficient Human Resources to provide PROACTIVE instead of reactive support to students with complex needs. Forcing kids to reach crisis mode before they get time with an EA is a massive #OntEd failure directly tied to the broken education funding formula.

Parents all over the world are struggling with the same issues like #onted. Jill Dunlop - there is an opportunity here - be leaders and create a path to fix it - or continue through dumpster fire. Talk with ALL educators including us EAs & actually listen.Chandra Pasma

Students in Ontario need & deserve a safe place to learn, but this school year has picked up right where last year ended—with classrooms disrupted daily by violent incidents. We have a plan to address violence in schools. Doug Ford, act on it today. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

One day Our children will grow up And they will ask “Why didn’t you do more to keep me safe?” And the adults Will all shrug And say “Who could have predicted this?”

Bless all of the Educational Assistants for the work they do to provide access to education for our most vulnerable. Bless the Child and Youth Workers who help students in crisis to hold it together every day. Underpaid. Overworked. Amazing humans and heroes. WRDSB EAA

We need to address the issue of violence in our schools with a plan that includes mental health supports for students, a permanent working group on violence in education, province-wide reporting, regulations in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and more. 1/2 #onted #onpoli

Last year, the #tvdsb had 5366 REPORTED incidents of violence directed towards staff. That's 537 per month, or 29 per day! This is unacceptable. When will the board & ministry take steps to address violence? Is it any wonder why our schools have staff shortages? #onted #edchat
