Starting my 2nd day at #IRENA14A with a discussion on accelerating #renewableenergy projects.
EU’s energy transition has leapt forward at a pace no one had predicted, which is backed by a strong political push. We have reforms in place helping to accelerate the #energytransition .
Insightful roundtables at #IRENA14A , going in detail with infrastructure & #energysecurity .
#SecurityOfSupply has always been our top priority, especially considering recent years developments.
We’ve scaled up #renewables , which helps us replace 🇷🇺 gas with home-grown energy.
Continuing with the topic of tripling #renewables at the #GlobalOffshoreWindAlliance Ministerial.
Currently, Europe has world’s largest ambitions for #offshorewind : around 317 GW by 2050.
Today, we have around 19 GW installed & a clear pathway to reach 111 GW by 2030! #IRENA14A

First up, a wonderful panel discussion on concrete & immediate actions to drive implementation of the #COP28 outcomes, mainly on tripling #renewable capacity.

Russian attacks against energy infrastructure in Ukraine has reached a new high, causing unprecedented damage & destruction. 🇺🇦remains resilient, but support is needed more than ever. I met with Minister German Galushchenko at today’s informal energy council, to hear how we can help.
The EC 🇪🇺 welcomes the final adoption of the strengthened #EnergyPerformance of #Buildings Directive.
It sets the framework to reduce emissions and energy use in buildings 🏘️🏢 across Europe and will boost our energy ⚡️ independence.

I am profoundly saddened by the tragic incident at the Bargi hydropower plant in Italy. My thoughts go to the families of the victims & of those injured or still missing. We follow the developments & rescue operation closely, in contact with Italian authorities & Enel Green Power.
