Kate Swaffer she/her 🌏🌼🧩🤐 damianmurphy Couldn't be more true Kate.
Myself & others have had this exact issue with Dementia Australia, I will never support them again, I talk to former Ambassadors of the Alzheimers Society, same.
They simply move to the next person, and nothing changes.
It's shameful.
Kate Swaffer she/her 🌏🌼🧩🤐 damianmurphy Beats me Kate, ppl like yourself have been saying these things for years, it's not new information being given by others, so was unsure at the response to some, hearing ppl with Dementia talk at #ADI2024 , my only conclusion is they mustn't talk to a lot of people with Dementia.
As I note, in excellent Charlotte Grieve report, creeping powers of the Minister for Home Affairs could potentially apply to anyone, powers that are hard to wind back. Rob Wipond They were always intertwined and effectively the same, at least whenever the faux “treatment” and false “help” or “protection”were effected by coercion. It’s the public who need to realize that psychiatry makes everything worse, nothing better. It’s the ultimate betrayal.
Lee-Fay Low So many of our members eg Christine Bryden Kate Swaffer she/her 🌏🌼🧩🤐 have been doing this for decades, so it’s great to know some people with dementia are finally being listened to. What we need next is action, including policy change, improved post dx services such as #rehabilitation

It's difficult to read the disturbing, frightening, and insightful journey of songwriter/author Dana Parish & not wonder how many with Lyme have even been locked up as 'mad.' I personally saw a friend get a parasite & experience hallucinations & paranoia.

I was at a meeting of attorneys and other experts on mental health laws and involuntary commitment recently, and some mentioned what a stellar podcast series Committable has created. Indeed! More people should know about it. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/com…
