Excited for former postdoc Magda Kalinowska, whose work was published online today! With help from Francesco Longo & Mauricio Oliveira, she found that deleting Fmr1 in PV neurons alters translation and causes selective ASD-related behaviors. doi.org/10.1186/s13229… #fragileXsyndrome
Excited to share our work on the optical control of translation and monitoring of newly synthesized proteins in neurons with a puromycin-based diazocine photoswitch. Dirk H. Congratulations to Harrison Evans, who was awarded a Research Fellowship from Alzheimer's Association to fund his exciting work on translation dysregulation in neurodegenerative disease!
The EMBO Workshop on RNA Localization and Local Translation held in Sant Feliu De Guixols, Spain concluded today. What a great meeting! Many thanks to Gary J. Bassell, @ChaoLabFMI, Anne Ephrussi, and Geraldine Seydoux for organizing!
Today at NYU Center for Neural Science, Erin schuman gave the Valle Foundation Visiting Professor Lecture, where she discussed her groundbreaking work on local neuronal translation. Erin's talk was amazing - we are very excited to host her for an entire month here in NYC!

Thrilled to share our review on the modulation of emotional and social behaviors by oxytocin signaling in limbic network!! It was great fun working on this together with Rodrigo Triana-Del Rio, Sayali Ranade, Jahel Guardado, LeDoux Lab and @klannlab. frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…
Happy to share Francesco Longo's work describing how cell type-specific changes in striatal MSNs drive repetitive behaviors in FXS mice. Many thanks to Adam Carter, nic tritsch 🇺🇦 🏳️🌈 #BLM, & Claudia Bagni labs for sharing their expertise! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Excited to share Muhaned Mohamed's work, where he describes how three separate ASD- and epilepsy-associated mutations in the gene encoding eEF1A2 alter translation elongation, neuronal morphology, tRNA binding, and actin bundling. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Two open postdoc positions at The Bagni Lab Department of Fundamental Neurosciences! We are seeking for motivated candidates to investigate the mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental deficits using🪰and 🐭. #postdoc #neuroscience #DNF Send CV, Cover letter and 3 referees by August 1st, 2023 (see ad).
Really excited to share Mauricio Oliveira's latest work, where he describes a novel mechanism for eIF2alpha dephosphorylation in response to plasticity-inducing stimulation, answering a long-standing question in the field of neuronal translation. Congrats! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Thrilled to share Francesco Longo's latest work describing cell type-specific disruption of striatal circuitry in FXS. Many thanks to our collaborators in the labs of Adam Carter, The Bagni Lab, & nic tritsch 🇺🇦 🏳️🌈 #BLM - sometimes it takes a village! sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Excited to share Muhaned Mohamed's now published work describing the impact of epilepsy- and ASD-associated mutations in EEF1A2 on de novo translation, elongation, tRNA-binding, and actin bundling. Congratulations Muhaned! pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
Big week for Muhaned Mohamed and the lab. On Monday, his first, first author paper was published in PNAS. Today, he gave an outstanding presentation and successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis. Muhaned rocks - we are all proud to have had the opportunity to do neuroscience with him!
So happy for Mauricio Oliveira, whose paper was published over the weekend. He shows how eIF2alpha becomes dephosphorylated in response to neuronal stimulation, answering a long-standing question in the field. cell.com/cell-reports/f…. Congratulations Mauricio!
Check out Dr. Prerana Shrestha's exciting paper on sex-specific differences in anxiety-like behaviors in TSC. Amazing amount of work using multiple approaches. Many thanks to all of our collaborators!
