🤝 #UKPHRST has launched a research project to develop and test a new disease outbreak surveillance system directly involving local community leaders in Brazil 🇧🇷 & Cape Verde 🇨🇻, in partnership with ProEpi, Ministério da Saúde de Cabo Verde, Ministério da Saúde 🩵 & #INSPCapeVerde .

🧵 The UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) is an innovative partnership between UKHSA and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, funded with UK aid by Department of Health and Social Care Global Health Security, DHSC UK. Their work sees them partner with low & middle-income countries, supporting responses to outbreaks by deploying public 1/3

... health specialists quickly to where they’re needed, helping to build & strengthen public health systems and perform operational research. Olive Leonard is the Social Equity & Human Rights Officer in the team, who briefs staff on deployment about the context they'll be 2/3
