Brilliant paper on SpinningPlates_CarerMH by Dr Martina Smith & Prof Katherine Runswick-C on the multiplicity of care stories that include love, joy, anger and distress - these stories co-exist rather than being levied against one another Centre for Disability Studies
‘I literally love where I am’: experiences of people with learning disabilities renting their own place. Interesting findings. David Abbott Eppie Leishman
New paper that might be of interest to #CDS24 folks written with Ned & Harvey and based on NIHR School for Social Care Research funded studies: “Disabled people negotiate gender, sexual identity and self-directed social care support in England: how does choice and control operate?” bristoluniversitypressdigital.com/view/journals/…
As #cds24 comes to an end, huge thanks to Centre for Disability Studies for hosting and a (not so) gentle invitation from one of the contributors for you to view the Exhibition ... carermhspinningpla.wixsite.com/spinplatesexhi…
VERY excited about this! ***NEW*** toolkit from Royal College of Emergency Medicine to support ED clinicians in caring for patients with a #LearningDisability #MedX #MedTwitter #FOAMed #TeamED #EmergencyMedicine Download from here: rcem.ac.uk/reports/
It was great to hear more about the SpinningPlates_CarerMH project at the #CDS24 conference. They highlighted how care is often not considered to be a part of disability studies, but the challenges that come with care in a disablist society are so important to acknowledge and address.
Brilliant resource here from the SAAIL: Supporting Autistic Adults' Intimate Lives team. Great that it keeps growing too.
