Alum Vishnu Jayaprakash won first-place in the graduate category of the Collegiate Inventors Competition, hosted by the Inventors HOF.

MechE graduate student Jack Chen won the first prize at the Brigham and Women's Hospital 2022 McGraw Opioid Innovator Competition for his research on an implantable device for detecting and treating opioid overdose, which he is working on with Giovanni Traverso Dr. Henwei Huang, and Peter Chai
Earlier this month, lecturer and MechE alum Michela Geri PhD '19 (left), MIT ChemE Dept student Kyle Lennon, Gareth McKinley (right), and the late Prof. Jim Swan won a Best Paper Award from The Society of Rheology for their work, 'Medium amplitude parallel superposition (MAPS) rheology.' #SoR2022

Harvard University hcura.org invited me to give a talk to high school students and prospective applicants. I talked about merging humans and machines. Many requested to visit our lab on a rainy Sunday, and many decided to apply for @mit Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)MechE now. Have a nice trip back!
Earlier this month, members of the MIT Corporation visited MIT Sailing Pavilion where they watched demos of robots that Mike Benjamin and MIT Sea Grant UROPs are working on with Drew Bennett. They also enjoyed rides on an autonomous ship.

This week, Prof. Gareth McKinley (left) and Prof. Markus Buehler (right) were both honored by the Society of Engineering Science.
McKinley won the G.I. Taylor Medal for research contributions to fluid mechanics and Buehler won the James R. Rice Medal for having substantial impact in his field๐
Congratulations to MechE graduate students Jonathan Bessette, AJ Perez, and Jana Saadi, who have been selected to join the inaugural cohort of design fellows at the MIT Morningside Academy for Design.
