1/In response to this tweet, from a journalist alleging a “class divide with addicted homeless”, I will offer corrective facts

Among Americans entering treatment for opioid use disorder in the federal TEDS dataset, 12.5% were homeless.

In recognition of #Treatmentweek I hold multiple truths to be true. 1) Addiction is a good prognosis, treatable health condition & #AddictionMedicine is the most rewarding field in medicine. 2) Most people who use drugs never develop addiction & most people use drugs (☕️🍷). 1/3

Last week, Margot Kushel MD presented to the California State Assembly Committee on Budget and made it clear: homelessness is a housing problem.

Glad to see that DC offered housing (not shelter) to those who it “cleared” from encampments. Will be important to see if they offer permanent rental support, sufficient services. Noted that “only those on housing lists eligible” what happened to those not previously engaged.
