It was an important time to convene Muslim orgs and leaders at City Hall today. Their work has been invaluable in providing support and reassurance to London’s Muslim communities. Working together we must redouble our efforts to tackle Islamophobia & bring communities together.

Since 2019 we have continued to work with SAFE: Security Advice for Everyone & partners to provide free security advice to all places of worship in London. See below how Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan funding is supporting additional workshops by Faith Associates & Mosque Security for mosques at this difficult time.

Across our city TfL staff work hard to serve millions of customers every day and should be able to go about their work without fear or intimidation. Physical & verbal abuse is a criminal offence with consequences. It will never be tolerated on London’s public transport network.

Good to see Metropolitan Police action - working to make our streets safer.

Modern slavery is a scandal that is hidden in plain sight in every part of the UK. We must confront it. Identifying and protecting these vulnerable people is a huge challenge that our police and partner organisations face.

One example of the great work Metropolitan Police are doing to tackle robbery in London. I was pleased to join the Robbery Team at Westminster Police | Central West BCU this afternoon to see first-hand the good work they are doing in partnership with Westminster City Council and @newwestend to keep the West End safe

Important update on tackling knife crime: On 24th September 2024, it will become illegal to own 'zombie'-style knives and machetes. Being convicted of possession of these weapons could lead to a two-year prison sentence. 1/2
