We hear you! For weeks, we've been gathering info from the public & bus operators about where bus lane enforcement is most needed. Later this week, Transit Police-Targeted Mobile Enforcement Team will launch the 1st of 4 days of focused enforcement in those areas. Is W. Georgia on the list? (spoiler: it sure is!)

Even though we started off Day One of our Bus Lane Enforcement Project with a flat tire, we still issued 39 bus lane violation tickets and took one impaired driver off the road in a little over 2 hours in #DeltaBC & #SurreyBC. Where are we going next? Stay tuned...

While we focus on Bus Lanes, Community Safety Officers continue to do checks at fare evasion "hot spots". Example: Day Two of the Bus Lane enforcement project, we fined 93 people. During the same time, MVTP Community Safety Officer wrote 61 fare evasion tickets #HaveYourProofOfFareReadyAtAllTimes

Today, we joined Surrey RCMP Traffic Community Respose Unit at the Newton Busloop City of Surrey to do enforcement & education. Jay walking & not using a cross walk is very unsafe. Pedestrians are reminded to use a cross walk to ensure safety and the save $109 in a fine.
