9th May 1904 City of Truro does the ton, probably the first locomotive to do so. Designed under George Churchward Chief Mechanical Engineer of the GWR. 100mph was achieved descending Wellington Bank on an Ocean Mail Special from Plymouth to Paddington.

๐Ÿงต1/2 William Bell Scott was a Scottish artist &poet who lived in this house on St Thomasโ€™ Crescent. Born in Edinburgh in 1811 he became a renowned Pre-Raphelite painter, with some of his most known pieces being hung at Wallington Hall.He worked at Newcastle School of Art 1843-64
