When I left the classroom almost 10 years ago, I think I made a subconscious decision to embark on a Learner’s Journey through the History of Mathematics. I am now an Expert of “Not Knowing”. 🤔🤟

Whatever you know, think, understand, and imagine about mathematics…it’s far, far, far more beautiful than that. Letting students think that K - 12 math is a galaxy in the math universe, when it’s barely a planet, is a costly distortion promoting math claustrophobia.

Learning loss is a harmful and myopic statement, falsely distilling down a student's spherical learning in and outside the classroom to outdated test scores.

This photo was taken 7 years ago. It is 15 minutes after my 2 hour Family Math has ended in a local library. The man at the back just showed up because he was working. Of all my moments teaching mathematics, this might be one of my favourites. The persistence up front♥️
