A good prompt from JT English in his book Deep Discipleship. It’s not the only concern of discipleship but a challenging way to frame the issue: What if future ministry leaders are currently non-believers in your congregation? Is the church prepared to substantially invest?

Had the opportunity to work with some great people on the Fall ’24 edition of The Gospel Project curriculum. Love the cover artwork and theme as well.

“…(any) major new medium changes the structure of discourse; it does so by encouraging certain uses of the intellect, by favoring certain definitions of intelligence and wisdom, and by demanding a certain kind of content—in a phrase, by creating new forms of truth-telling.” N.P.

Some reading lately as I'm thinking about time, gifts, the call to ministry, stewardship, being terminally online, and not falling under the sway of individuals whose livelihoods depend on distracting ministry leaders from their actual (and far more significant) responsibilities.

A friend told me today about an 8yo in his church who was asked to summarise The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in one sentence. He replied, “We are all Edmund.” 🤯

In spring and autumn, we keep the windows in our gathering space open on Sunday mornings. A young woman in a recent membership class said she first heard about our church because she lives down the street and could hear the congregation singing. What's more beautiful than that?

To celebrate a new school year and the release of Arlo and the Keep-Out Club, I made a playlist of song for kids about friendship with Jesus. thegospelcoalition.org/article/friend…

They never told me “your kid finally conquering learning how to ride a bike is Top 5 most satisfying experiences in life” but here we are. This is the good stuff in life isn’t it?

It’s a joy to serve at Hope Fellowship and this story at The Gospel Coalition gets at a lot of the reasons why. Hope many are encouraged by what God is up to Greater Boston.

“No man shall ever behold the glory of Christ by sight in heaven who does not, in some measure, behold it by faith in this world.” — John Owen Re: We’ll be enthralled by God’s glory on that day but only if we are enamored with Him by grace through faith here and now.
