In my visit this week to Madagascar 🇲🇬, I've seen the power of public-private partnerships firsthand. The impact on polio eradication and immunization is profound. Together we are working towards #MakingPolioHistory !

Huge congrats Benin, Liberia & Sierra Leone on malaria vaccine introduction - a pivotal step that widens access to malaria prevention. With our partners, we’re fully supporting efforts to lower the heavy burden of this disease in the region.

On this #WorldMalariaDay we appreciate progress made. But we also remind ourselves of the huge efforts still needed to end malaria. World Health Organization (WHO) & partners continue to work with countries to bolster malaria control, build resilient health systems & ensure services are available to all.

Congrats zely arivelo randriamanantany, Madagascar Minister of Health & the government, for strengthening #polio response. No cases have been reported in the past 6 months👏🏽. But we can’t rest. We must scale up & sustain surveillance, reach and protect every child & #EndPolio transmission.

Vaccines are one of humanity’s greatest achievements. In the past 50 years, millions of lives have been saved thanks to immunization. Let’s unite to protect the gains & strive to ensure a world with immunization for all.

What a better way to kick off African Vaccination Week!

In Madagascar🇲🇬, I had great discussions today with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Rasata R., & #GPEI partners on strengthening support and reinforcing efforts to reach every child with life-saving vaccines.

In 2008, the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution on the elimination of FGM in which all Member States agreed to work towards the abandonment of the practice.

At the ongoing #ICPPA2024 , the message is clear: we must leverage person-centred integrated service delivery to address the NCDs burden in Africa. WHO African Region, we continue working with partners to support countries strengthen health systems towards effective NCDs service delivery.

Good to be in Madagascar🇲🇬 to join Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners & engage with the authorities on bolstering efforts to #EndPolio & to increase advocacy on the life-saving impact of vaccines as we mark African Vaccination Week.
