If your life is on the line (it often is with a doctor) you need to research the hell out of that doctor.

Interview them, speak to trusted colleagues, ask them to explain the procedure etc.

Managers need to assign tasks to their reports carefully.

Too easy and they'll be bored and unmotivated.

Tasks near their max ability will require your involvement.

Tasks just beyond their ability are a disaster.

Tasks that are way too hard lead to a quick pivot.
