Schools should let students protest, they absolutely should not call the cops, and they should give protesters very wide leeway. But protesters don't get to bar other students from community facilities or demand ideological fealty before other students can use common areas.

Yes. There’s a huge amount of untapped potential for broader coalition building & influence being lost due to silliness like this. Sympathy for Palestinians is more widespread than what we’re seeing in protests, in part bc many sympathetic people are turned off by this discourse.

The complete disconnect happening right now in terms of rhetoric coming from the Saudi Foreign Ministry and the U.S. State Department on this issue is mind boggling

Thoughtful post. The more I’ve watched post-Oct 7 discourses, the more confidently grounded I’ve felt in the realisation that my strongest commitment in this & all polarising conflicts is not to one “side” per se, but to the consistent & universal application of human rights.
