The Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) Approves $2,680,000.00 in sub-grants & legacy Initiatives. $1,555,000 will support 15 #CSOs in 6 West Africa counties to advance #TJ initiatives, $750,000 earmarked for legacy-worthy projects, & $375,000 for collaborations. At the launch of the Sierra Leone Broadcasters Association (SiLBA) today, THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL)’s Head of Programs, Augustine S James, congratulated them, reminded them of #MRCG’s study on journalists welfare, and encouraged them to address the issues affecting journalists.

Today, the staff of the THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL) visited the Sierra Leone Peace Museum, to establish partnership. The visit, supported by Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF), was geared towards starting a working relationship btw the two institutions on Transitional Justice (TJ) Issues in Sierra Leone.
2yrs ago today, there was a nationwide protest that led to the loss of lives. The protest, largely planned on social media, reportedly got low security measures for its prevention. The THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL)/Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) project on #TJ, will increase public awareness on the #TRC report. #NeverAgain
Today, we remember the adoption of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy in February 2019. The policy was developed by African Union to address the adverse effects of violent conflicts in Africa. ATJLF is proud to have supported the actualization of this policy.

Our Head of Programs, Augustine James, will be participating in a week-long Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa. The event which will be hosted in #Senegal, & funded by Digital Defenders Partnership, will focus on lessons learnt on digital rights in connection with human rights over the years.
The THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL), under its project supported by the Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF), engaged students at the Faculty of Comm, Media and Info Studies-University of Sierra Leone, on the relevance of more public awareness on Transitional Justice (TJ) Issues in 🇸🇱, on the module ‘Media and TJ’ at the faculty.
Our National Coordinator, Dr. Francis Sowa, participated in a strategic meeting held by our regional partner, Media Foundation for West Africa and the #ECOWAS in Abuja, Nigeria. The meeting was geared towards strengthening media and democracy in West Africa.
