Ahead of THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL) and Minority Rights Group’ second edition of Anti-Conflict and Inclusive Awards, I’ve just discussed the process behind the awards and criteria for the selection of the finalists on @riseradiosl and will be doing same on #TopRadio in the morning.

At the launch of the Sierra Leone Broadcasters Association (SiLBA) today, THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL)’s Head of Programs, Augustine S James, congratulated them, reminded them of #MRCG’s study on journalists welfare, and encouraged them to address the issues affecting journalists.

The visit, supported by Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF), was geared towards starting a working relationship btw the two institutions on Transitional Justice (TJ) Issues in Sierra Leone.

After the meeting, we were taking on tour to the various facilities in the Museum. We saw the “11yr war” in pictures, we saw artifacts from the war, we heard firsthand explanation from someone who witnessed the war, we saw the various processes leading to peace. #NeverAgain.

2yrs ago today, there was a nationwide protest that led to the loss of lives. The protest, largely planned on social media, reportedly got low security measures for its prevention. The THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL)/Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) project on #TJ, will increase public awareness on the #TRC report. #NeverAgain

Today, we remember the adoption of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy in February 2019. The policy was developed by African Union to address the adverse effects of violent conflicts in Africa. ATJLF is proud to have supported the actualization of this policy.
