Marilyn Lovell, wife of Apollo 8 & 13 astronaut Jim Lovell, passed away this week. Mount Marilyn, named by Jim during Apollo 8 training, was one of several landmarks used by Apollo astronauts to estimate location during Moon landings.

NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter imaged a new crater on the Moon’s surface that is likely the impact site of Russia’s Luna 25 mission, which experienced an anomaly that caused it to impact the Moon on Aug. 19.
