We were proud to join NYC in making history by banning the torture of solitary confinement.

We stood with impacted New Yorkers to make sure Local Law 42—which provides enforceable guidelines and prevents the new exploitative loopholes—is enacted as well. #HALTSolitary

Today we joined NYC Jails Action Coalition (JAC) & Jumaane Williams to urge NYC Department of Correction to implement Local Law 42 by its effective date of July 28. Solitary is torture. A supermajority of the City Council banned it by enacting Local Law 42. Now DOC must implement the law.

We had some great conversations with small business owners in Orange Co., NY about what justice means and why we seek a system that values transformation, healing, and safety over vengeance. Local businesses are with us.
