Franklin is currently making landfall in the Dominican Republic and will likely strengthen into a hurricane over the weekend.

Heavy rainfall, tropical storm-force winds, and isolated tornadoes are the primary hazards of this storm.

Tropics Update 🌀🌀🌀: We have three named storms and two disturbances with high chances of formation in the Atlantic.

None of these pose any immediate concern for Florida.

Tropics Update: The Atlantic continues to show signs of life.

• Our twin disturbances in the central/eastern Atlantic now have medium chances of development.

• Our Gulf area maintains a low (20%) chance of formation.

• None of them pose an immediate threat to Florida.

🤧 A hefty plume of Saharan Dust will likely push into Florida by the weekend…

This would lead to lower air quality and possible irritation of respiratory conditions.

On the bright side, the dust is currently playing a large role in inhibiting tropical activity!

Rain forecast for the next 7 days! 🔜 ☔️

American (GFS) and European (ECMWF) weather models now call for many communities in Southwest Florida to see around two inches of rainfall by next Friday.

Update: In their latest forecast, NOAA has greatly increased their odds for 2023 to feature an above-normal amount of activity.

Radar Update: Storms are now moving into Fort Myers and Punta Gorda.

These will all push east of I-75 and away from the coast in the afternoon/evening. Lightning, gusty winds, and isolated flooding are their primary hazards. #flwx
