18 Aug 1917, Queen's Hospital, Sidcup, opened in grounds of Frognal House. Provided pioneering plastic surgery for #WWI soldiers, who had suffered facial injury, by New Zealand surgeon, Sir Harold Gillies (1882-1960). Took 5 months to build & had 300 beds based in wooden huts.
