Millions of energy customers who are not on fixed rate tariffs will see their bills rise by 27% tomorrow.

The price per unit will then be frozen until 2024 after the government introduced a price cap.

Doncaster City FC has applied for permission to compete in the Scottish Cup next season.

The football club believes a peace treaty dating back to 1136 - which handed the area to the Scottish King - should allow them to play in the knock-out competition north of the border.

US President Joe Biden has arrived in London ahead of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II tomorrow.

Mr Biden is among some 500 heads of state and foreign dignitaries coming to London.

A further rise in inflation is expected later when official figures for August are published in the next hour.

It reached a 40-year high of 10.1% in July. Economists are predicting it edged up further last month to 10.2%.
