Firefighters face deadly cancers due to toxic exposures, often detected too late. It’s about time measures such as health monitoring, is introduced so that UK firefighters can be properly protected, catching these illnesses early and save lives. #Decon #Cancer #Firefighters

This morning (Friday 21 June), an independent panel decided that Chief Constable Nick Adderley had breached the standards of honesty and integrity and should be dismissed without notice and placed on the policing barred list. Read more on our website: northantspfcc.org.uk/dismissal-of-c…

Since the Grenfell Tower fire, more than 4,600 high-rise blocks have been identified as having unsafe cladding. Seven years later and half of these haven't even had building work started to remove it. Matt Wrack on BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House this weekend.

The final report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has now been published. On this day, we remember the 72 lives lost. This report demonstrates beyond doubt that an agenda of deregulation cost lives. We share the grief and anger of the bereaved, survivors and residents.

The Grenfell inquiry shows residents and first responders were failed by construction firms, central government, and the London Fire Brigade's management. We've consistently highlighted the risks of cladding since 1999, and we will continue to do so today.

Successive governments have disregarded fire safety. That came in the form of failing to properly regulate and cuts to fire services. Today’s report has shown that construction companies have endangered lives and government has failed to protect residents.

For years, we've warned that deregulation would leave buildings and the public unsafe. The Grenfell Tower fire exposed the tragic consequences of ignoring our warnings. Government must listen and act to prevent another disaster.

Seven years after the Grenfell Tower disaster, thousands of buildings are still covered in dangerous cladding. We need action on the building safety crisis, and firefighters must be given the resources they need. Lessons must be learned. Matt Wrack on Good Morning Britain

A well organised & successful campaign, months of tireless work by FBU Northamptonshire & FBU Reg6 East Midlands reps & members led to PFCC Stephen Mold stepping down. The campaign held him accountable for poor appointments & exposed flaws in fire service governance.
