Abe was the coach 1977 to 1982. He won over 100 games for the Longhorns (110-63) and led his teams to the 1978 & 1979 SWC titles. Although he led Texas to the 1979 NCAA tournament, his greatest season in Austin culminated with the 1978 NIT Championship Texas Longhorns
