The Japan British Exhibition in White City featured an extensive recreation of a Japanese landscape with buildings. The big rock like structures were part of that and included a roller coaster that ran through the fake mountains.

A fascinating view across White City in 1910 when the Japan British Exhibition was showing. See the tower of St Charles Hospital in the distance.

Back in Time West London Is this a colourised photo?
Surely the houses are built with a more yellow brick.
Here is a photo of the gardens gifted to the council by the Gunter estate following the Second World War.
They certainly were grand then.

Back in Time West London My great-grandparents worked in the Maypole - lived in North Hyde, Heston and walked over the canal to the factory every day. My Great-Grandfather is listed as an 'incapacitated margerine blender' in the 1939 Register

Southall Spread.
The Maypole Dairy bought Otto Monsted’s margarine factory in 1915. The factory in Southall was the world's largest margarine factory - covering 22,500 square yards, employing 650 people, churning out 700 tons of margarine a week.
