A very good pro and con discussion of the use of Ki-67 in lung NETs. While not a perfect marker, I think the WHO classification of lung NENs would be improved by incorporating Ki67 but both authors (pro and con) make great points as expected.

Adjuvant chemo for resected stage 1 panc cancer...? A new meta-analysis (of old data). Hard to interpret in light of modern standards. Mostly gem and FP and little/no FFX. I think of PDAC as a systemic disease, I often recommend chemo. What do you do...?

The unstoppable Mayo Surgery team is at it again...! Resection of NET liver mets of unknown primary yields similar results as in small bowel NETs and better than panc NETs. Are UP-NETLM occult sbNET primaries...? Either way, resection seems to help!

An absolutely outstanding Pathology Grand Rounds lecture on small-cell carcinoma of the lung by Natasha Rekhtman MD PhD of MSKCC today. Lots of exciting things happening in SCLC, hopefully some will translate to extrapulmonary NEC. Very useful for clinicians to know Mayo Clinic Pathology.

Surgery for liver AND peritoneal NET mets...? Another excellent study led by Hallbera Gudmundsdottir. Long-term OS and symptom control outcomes favorable. Better OS was associated with more cytoreduction. Peritoneal mets per se should not preclude surg cytoreduction

Saw a patient today who has a panc NET, a lymphoma and prostate cancer, all active. He will need 3 different PET studies, SSTR, FDG and PSMA. What are the chances I can convince his insurance company that all three are needed? 2 have already been done so maybe good chance of 3rd.

Important NANETS statement on palliative or hospice care for patients with any #NET ( #pheo #para included), especially those making hormones. Must treat the cancer & the hormones to properly care for the patient.
