A couple of beach sessions at Crook Bank, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR, today. 2 juv Little Gull the best this morning. 3 juv Caspian Gull and juv Yellow-legged Gull this evening, plus 2 Manx and a Sooty Shearwater north over the sea RareBirdAlertUK
The high tides have proven useful for reading colour rings, with a couple of Ringed Plover and a handful more Sandwich Tern read. A surprise this morning came in a Temminck's Stint associating with other small waders on the flooded foreshore RareBirdAlertUK
Just found this Baird’s Sandpiper at Frampton from the seawall in the blowing gales RSPB Frampton Marsh 🌍 BirdGuides Toby Collett
One of at least three juvenile Caspian Gull on Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR foreshore earlier in the week, including a Polish ringed bird. A juvenile Yellow-legged Gull present as well... out of only 70 large gulls RareBirdAlertUK
Whinchat inevitably on barbed wire - Elm House Farm, Saltfleetby, last week. It's been a pretty slow start to chat passage on this part of the coast so far RareBirdAlertUK
Another brilliant (but very wet!) visit to RSPB Frampton Marsh 🌍 today with 96 species seen. Baird's Sandpiper the standout rarity, and it was impressive to see 27 wader species on site RareBirdAlertUK
Most of the smaller waders had followed the tide out by lunchtime, but a lingering group early afternoon included 11 juv Curlew Sandpipers of pure scaly perfection RSPB Frampton Marsh 🌍 RareBirdAlertUK
A morning walk onto the windy beach at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR proved worthwhile when this smart juvenile Curlew Sandpiper walked into view RareBirdAlertUK
No noticeable arrival in the dunes today other than a local abundance of Blackcap around Crook Bank this morning. At least eight Whinchat at Elm House Farm this afternoon were nice to see RareBirdAlertUK
Four Whinchat remained at Elm House Farm today. When using a vehicle as a mobile hide, they showed very nicely. Lovely little birds RareBirdAlertUK
Eerily quiet for new migrants around Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR today. At least this Pied Flycatcher, seen during a post-work wander near Sea View, offered a bit of hope for the weekend RareBirdAlertUK
A slow morning slog at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR quickly forgotten after lunch with birds arriving. No rares and poor coverage (as usual!), but combined 5 Spotted Fly, 15 Pied Fly, 14 Redstart, 12 Whinchat and 4 Wheatear were really nice to see RareBirdAlertUK
It's been lovely seeing Whinchat regularly over the last week or so. At least 12 birds split between Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR and Elm House Farm today RareBirdAlertUK
More new arrivals at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR today, but quieter this evening. Collective totals of 13 Pied Fly, 14 Redstart, 16+ Whinchat, 29+ Wheatear, 4 Garden Warbler, Tree Pipit (south), plus 5 Turtle Dove. Still lacking a rare, though! RareBirdAlertUK
Some more new arrivals at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR again this weekend. A juvenile Red-backed Shrike ringed yesterday was the best, but a scattering of the more common drift migrants has been a joy to see again RareBirdAlertUK
A pleasant evening at Donna Nook between hail showers! Two imm Red-backed Shrikes still near Stone bridge car park last seen together on Sunday. This bird was particularly confiding RareBirdAlertUK
