Pray for your pastor today. He may have received some discouraging words about his preaching from a harsh critic in the church, and is now trying to prepare to preach knowing that harsh critic will be there in the service tomorrowโ€ฆlistening.

I had a great weekend with my good friend, Brad Evangelista and his elders and preached here this morning. Brad planted this amazing church 20 years ago and still leads and pastors it. Truly a warm and incredible church making a huge impact. Brad Evangelista

Allow me to introduce you to our 10th class of Mathena Center interns Southern Seminary. When they complete this internship in the Spring of 2025, we will be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Mathena Center where 72 interns have gone through our one year training.

This week our cohorts in Nepal ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต and East Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ are coming together in Nakuru and Kathmandu for their intensive training. Pray for these men as they are equipped and encouraged to persevere in the planting of healthy churches in hard places.

Thankful for this time with our CiHP Nepal cohort. The Nepalese are some of the friendliest people Iโ€™ve met. The spiritual darkness in Nepal is some of the most intense Iโ€™ve ever witnessed. Yet there are faithful believers risking it all for the sake of making Jesus known here.

Every pastor should have an older pastor that mentors them and every pastor should have a younger pastor they mentor. So many issues among pastors would be addressed if this was the norm.

Had dinner with one of my guys, Jonathan Ginn, to celebrate his one year anniversary as pastor of Franklin Street Baptist Church. Jonathan was a Mathena Center intern Southern Seminary, did our summer internship with GBP in London, and is doing really faithful ministry now.

Did you know the best way to avoid the activity of your own soul is noise and busyness? This is why the regular discipline of silence, stillness, and solitude is crucial to grow in awareness of your own soul. This is especially true for pastors.

Pastors, you canโ€™t change anything that happened today. But thatโ€™s OK. Jesus is powerful and will use it however he needs to. So let go. And sleep well. Heโ€™s got it.

Pastors, realize one of your greatest enemies for your ministry is impatience. Earning the trust of a congregation does not take months. It takes years. So hunker down. Be faithful. Do the day-to-day grind of shepherding the flock. And be patient as you wait for God to work.

Early flight this morning to make a quick trip to Arkansas to preach the installation of one of my guys into a lead pastor role. I would welcome your prayers.

It was an honor to preach the installation service this morning of Nate Oโ€™Brien as the new lead pastor of Covenant Church in Siloam Springs, AR. A special place and a special family. Dealing with flight delays coming home. Would welcome your prayers to get home tonight.
