TACKLING FATIGUE IN HEALTHCARE

This paper offers pragmatism and a realistic approach to the aspiration of fatigue risk management in this sector. It includes examples of promising early work - and a roadmap to development of a systematic and system-based approach.

Supervising a PhD student (Brook Howells) with Jane O'Hara Carl Macrae Gemma Louch Lauren Ramsey and learnt the phrase ‘Upwards Management’ - haven’t stopped using that phrase since 👍

Most days I feel like an imposter! So, don’t worry all you young working class (old fashioned to say that isn’t it …) kids, just keep going

Sorry to hear that and more power to your elbow James - come across quite a few egos in my time - across the board, always ignore them (others see it as well and they also avoid them) - one more time: ‘empty vessels make the most noise’

Try Flammkuchen parties - witnessed people eating so many of those - as for saumagen … Helmut Kohl’s favourite dish - had it sent to China when on a diplomatic visit - my father-in- law (dyed in the wool Pfaelzer) had a role in getting hold of it …

Must admit this cheered me up 😀- probably German white asparagus is much better (tried the UK variety and it was just water mush) - hollandaise is a must either side of the channel - we used to have spargel parties in Kaiserslautern! Bizarre, but true.

Agree - it’s why going back to their meaning (accidents, error) and also looking at their etymology is worth it - that’s changed over time - one more, how other languages use them ‘Unfall’ in German (accident) almost means something that nearly (i.e. but didn’t) happen

Fran Ives Health Innovation West Midlands I have to say these podcasts are really good - just listened to the one with Lauren Morgan and it’s inspiring to say the least. I knew Lauren towards her time at Loughborough and along with Fran Ives, Ken Catchpole (and many others), they are a huge advert for Loughborough University
