The Justice Minister has formally launched a new system today which makes it easier for Gardai to identify uninsured vehicles on our roads.

One in 12 motorists are currently driving without any insurance. Last month over 18 hundred vehicles were seized for having no insurance.

Gardaí in Donegal are appealing for witnesses after a man was found dead in a car at Buncranna Pier yesterday.

A car was discovered in the water at 7.30am. The vehicle was removed and a man in his 80s was discovered deceased inside.

An infant boy has died following a road traffic incident in Clare

It happened at a residential estate on Quin Road in Ennis shortly before lunchtime.

The child was rushed to hospital in Limerick but later died from his injuries
