With over 20 million PWH on DTG-based regimens, monitoring for INSTI resistance is critical.

Prospective studies like this in Clinical Infectious Diseases yield important data.

TL/DR: DTG resistance occurs, but it's rare -- more likely in PWH who switch while viremic. doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci…

Olgotrelvir significantly shortened symptom duration in Covid compared to placebo (8.5 vs 11.0 days) -- something that Paxlovid failed to do.

Still think we need a good antiviral for this illness, even with low rates of hospitalization. evidence.nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Even the CDC STI guidelines acknowledge uncertainty in how to manage serologic non-response in syphilis -- that stubborn RPR that doesn't decline.

Here's a bold proposal for a clinical trial.

Any takers? (h/t Dr. Khalil Ganem) blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-observa…

A summary of a recent study wrote, “non-ID doctors do better” when providing primary care to people with HIV.

Not sure the study shows that.

But as I write here, who can get a primary care doctor these days anyway? Latest on this issue. blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-observa…

D2EFT: After failure of first-line 2NRTI/NNRTI-based Rx (and likely lots of NRTI resistance), TLD and DRV/r+DTG were noninferior to DRV/r+2NRTIs in viral suppression; DRV/r+DTG superior.

Might be the last of these studies.

Next up: Rx of TLD failures? doi.org/10.1016/S2352-…

Terrific thread on a fascinating study with potential high clinical impact for those who do hospital-based care. Thank you, Robert Dickson!

Is depletion of anaerobes the mechanism of cefepime's superiority over pip-tazo?

(Cefepime has anaerobic activity, albeit not as broad)

Each congenital syphilis case is a failure of our fractured healthcare system, which is particularly bad in the US south -- and exacerbated by factors such as substance use disorder, unstable housing, and poor prenatal care.

Should be 'never' events. doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci…

Congrats to Nimble for her record-breaking victory -- 'Aw shucks, it was no big deal' she seems to say afterwards.

Haven't been so entertained by something on TV in some time, so THANK YOU!

My mother still doesn’t celebrate Mother’s Day.

In fact, on reading this piece, she emailed me, “Who needs a brunch when you get this?” 😆
