I am delighted today to finally welcome the long-awaited approval of the Strategy to End Violence Against Women & Girls. This must be backed up by action and resources to deliver the change needed- and Alliance will be there making sure it happens.

This is why agreement by the NI Executive to extend the Executive Programme on Tackling Paramilitarism and Organised Crime yesterday is so important. The programme shines a light on the extent of harm done by these groups and provides evidence to show what works to combat it.

Naturally this extraordinarily late contribution to redress for victims and survivors of historical institutional abuse of children is a small step in right direction. However, payments remain outstanding and many victims feel a comprehensive redress process still has far to go
