Bus Rapid Transit BRT system in gorgeous Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. When done right, in right streets, BRTs are faster & cheaper than any LRT and streetcar. Electric, soon driverless. Vitoria was mediocre… until citizens decided to make it one of world’s best small green city!

My self-reward for delivering a new keynote to sold-out BikeTexas superb event: 9km/6mi run along magnificent trail bordering river/lake. Austin does seem to be as good as it’s reputation!! Texas is full of nice non-political positive surprises. I’ve worked by Rio Grande years.

Nice ciclovia/Open Street in Brownsville, park over highway in Houston, citywide wellbeing effort in Fort Worth, Dutch guided bikelanes in Austin, most solar/wind energy in US… obviously huge problems of equity, housing, sprawl. Opportunity to grow v different, greener. Why not?

Joyful workshop in Texas on #Ciclovia50 / Open Streets. Bogotá's began 1974 as protest bikes vs cars. Getting smaller, I led citywide increase 1995-2000, from 17Km/11mi to 121Km/75mi , now 126Km. We had broader goals: equity, health, happiness. Bike + walk, run, chat, aerobics...
